Warming up a new Instagram account
How the warm-up approach applies to Instagram Reels, and what Ember can and cannot do for Instagram accounts today.
Automated warm-up is not live here yet. You can add accounts for this platform and build and review niche queues, but Ember cannot yet dispatch activity to it — the cloud-phone automation currently covers TikTok only. This page describes the approach, not a shipped feature.
How Instagram differs
Instagram blends recommendation and social graph more than TikTok does. Reels are recommended to non-followers, but the rest of the app — feed, stories — is weighted towards accounts you already follow. A new account therefore has two separate problems: no interest profile for Reels, and no graph for everything else.
Instagram is also noticeably more sensitive to new-account behaviour. Action limits on following and liking are tighter early on, and hitting them is a fast route to a temporary block.
What the approach would be
- Weight the run towards watching Reels rather than liking, since watch-through carries signal without touching action limits.
- Follow considerably fewer accounts than a TikTok run, and spread them further apart.
- Avoid any follow/unfollow pattern entirely — it is one of the more reliably actioned behaviours on the platform.
What you can do in Ember today
You can add an Instagram account and generate and review a niche queue for it. Dispatching that queue automatically is not yet supported — you would be working the queue manually. If that changes, this page will change with it.
